Validating identity unable to find a certificate
To resolve i went to the manufacturer site and downloaded the latest drivers for the wireless card, and any other drivers i could. I had the same problem with a toshiba satellite p30 running windows xp pro sp3 with an atheros 5004x wireless card.
I tried every solution I could find on the net but nothing worked.
After this remove your router from preferred networks list. I had this problem on a laptop (lenovo) which i reinstalled xp on.
This will allow you to pick your router from available wireless network again, and put in your encryption code. I tried all the other stuff like disabling 802.11 settings under properties blah blah ..nothing worked.
What is strange though is that my netbook is connecting to our home network - which requires no password certificate.
- If still doesn't work, read the manual until you understand what is router is all about. : DRegards, Syed Hi, a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.I had been able to connect previously, but the connection would always indicate that it was validating. However, it didnt work, until I disconnected, turned the power off my Wi Fi, unchecked the tab in the authenticate dialog box, clicked ok, then switched the Wi Fi power back on, and reconnected. However, my XP machine has ben sitting on.."Validating identity" for ages. possible but strange) it was weird, insecure (no NAT firewalling) and unnecessarily complicated. Yeah I think we need to figure out what's happening really :) Your computer should not do anything to connect – there should not be a "validating identity" screen, no logging in to a network, or anything like that.Let your router do pppoe and routing, it's really designed for that. It seems that currently, your computer is trying to create a pppoe session (which involves logging in, validating identity etc). Change the wireless settings to create a new wireless ssid that you have not used before.
